Vamos al Cuzco is pleased to present this intensive program of shamanic training with Dr. Orellana; Peruvian-born and trained shaman who have also made significant anthropological and archaeological contributions to the study and understanding of this way of living. The Magic of Living is designed for those who seek an in-depth and heartfelt opportunity to apprentice in the healing traditions, energetic practices, and wisdom teachings of South American shamanism. This workshop series is intensive and experiential and combines the techniques that Dr. Orellana have acquired during decades of study and consultation with indigenous cultures throughout the Andes and South America. Those who register will be engaging in an in-depth training program consisting of four, four-day workshops spanning two years at the same location. Once our community has formed, no additional members will be added unless specifically approved by Dr. Orellana. |
The magic of the Andean shaman consists of an ability
to dialogue with the achachle, the spirit that lives in everything. In
order to attain this state of sacred communication, the shaman learns
to establish links with the different powers. This entails creating a
mesa, an altar-like arrangement of kuyas (stones of power), as well as
learning the icaros (sacred songs), and use of the rattle and whistle
through which sacred relationship can be established with kuichi (the
Rainbow), the malqu (trees), mayo (rivers), apus (sacred mountains), kocha
(sacred lakes) and the four elements {allypa (earth), unu (water), wayra
(winds), nina (fire)}. These practices, in turn, promote well being of
self and others and a Pachacutec, or return to Divine Origin. Each of
us has an Energy Body, yet its presence lies outside of our conscious
awareness most of the time. During this series of intensive, experiential
four-day weekends, we will learn to awaken the energy circuits within
us. These subtle energies may be applied for various purposes such as
healing, re-establishing balance within, experiencing non-linear time,
and perceiving the vibration of universal harmony in order to see reality
as it IS, not as we have been taught.
The following is a brief description of the program, though it is necessarily vague for we will be intensively engaging an energetic world where linear descriptions are woefully inadequate.

1st Training. Understanding the Human Body and It's Relationship to the Natural: Through experiential practice, we will become familiar with the different energies of our body, including those associated with the internal organs, and how to blend these energies together to awaken the inner fire or Rupai. According to Andean Cosmology there are various subtle energies (with which the shaman is able to engage) which infuse Nature and our bodies. These energies include: the energy from the main source of the universe which is related to our spiritual body, the energy from star dust which is related to our physical body, and the energy of the Mother Earth as a cosmic being which encompasses all of the natural world that surrounds us. We will learn techniques to project the source of energy all over our body to complete the first circle, or Chumpi, as we expand our awareness into our energy body. |

2nd Training. Conjunction with the Virgin Energies of the Kaypacha: The kaypacha, in Quechua, is the Axis Munde of existence. Here we learn to feel, face, play, and work with totemic and child energies. |

3rd Training. Power and Balance: In the Andes, power is seen as the art to be in the present...controlling our inside world, the ukhupacha, with the hanaqpacha, higher energies, in our present state of consciousness, or kaypacha. The focus of our work together will be to find the balance between the external energies and our own internal energies. |

4th Training. Awakening the Sources of Knowledge: This final segment of the apprenticeship will focus upon using different states of consciousness, rituals, and ceremonies to awaken Knowledge informed by our true feelings and not by external patterns socialized into us. We work directly with techniques for utilizing awakened intuition to inform action. |
