This journey begins in the Tarapoto Jungle where
we camp alongside a beautiful lake where, by day,
we will swim and explore and, by night, participate
in three evening-long ceremonies with the sacred
plant, ayahuasca, facilitated by two shamans, don
Theo and don Caesar. Ayahuasca is a Teacher and
Healing Plant; in this area of Peru it is traditional
to work with it in three consecutive sessions to
promote cleansing, healing, and wisdom. We next
depart for the mystic fortress of Kuelap, which
is twice as old as the Inca Empire....built by the
Chachapoyan Cloud People who characteristically
built all their citadels on peaks in the clouds.
Keulap is located at just under 10,000 feet and
the climate and vegetation feel like "eternal
spring". Optional you could be protagonist
to MACHUPICCHU AT NIGHT, where we will participate
in ceremonie with San Pedro you will open all your
sense and develop your intuition
We will
also have an opportunity to spend time
in Cuzco, the "Archaeological Capital
of the Americas" and former center
of the Inca Empire and to trek up Mt.
Veronica by horseback. Veronica is a beautiful,
glacier capped mountain that is visible
from the Sacred Valley connecting Machu
Picchu with Pisaq. We will perform ceremony
on the mountain where we will camp for
an evening before proceeding by train
to Machu Picchu, the "Crystal City".
Machu Picchu is a "must" for
travelers to Peru - perched high on a
mountain top, invisible from the valley
below where the Urubamba rushes as "white
water" weaving through Inca stone-lined
banks and boulders the size of trucks.
Machu Picchu was never discovered by the
Spanish conquistadors and was created
as an Inca ceremonial site, inhabited
by the Nustas, or Inca priestesses
This
is a very special adventure and is moderately
rigorous. Participation in Jungles to
Sacred Mountains involves camping in the
jungles and in the mountains, horseback
riding, and exposure to altitudes in excess
of 11,000 feet. It is not for the weak
of heart....but your spirit will most
definitely be strengthened by the experience!
We hope that you will join us!
Day 1
Depart for Lima, Peru.
Day2,3,4,5
Transfer to Tarapoto jungle and set-up
camp where we will enjoy the riches of the rainforest
and the small jungle town of Tarapoto and its market.
It is located in the "eyebrow of the jungle"
in a pass between the mountains and the flat lands
where we will see beautiful waterfalls and the beautiful
Huallaga River, one of the main effluents of the
Amazon. We will participate in 3 ayahuasca ceremonies
(optional). All meals are provided.
Day 6
Relajación en el lago de Puerto Pumas. Almuerzo
en Tarapoto antes de nuestro viaje a Kuelap. Tarapoto
es una ciudad de aproximadamente 70.000 habitantes,
donde el río de Huallaga se une a través
de la gama oriental de la montaña de los
Andes.
Day 7
Early departure to Kuelap, a 1,000 year old stone
fortress built by the Chachapoyans, a small regional
confederation, to stop the invasion of the Andes
by the Tiahunaco / Huari peoples in their advance
from Bolivia. A city of five walls, Kuelap's inner
passages narrowed down to a width where only one
person could enter the city at a time. Almost continuous
clouds and mist above and below create a biosphere;
millions of orchids and bromeliads cover the 400
stone buildings. We will participate in a day ceremony
with San Pedro (optional). Overnight dinner at Puerto
Pumas.
Day 8
A day for rest, lunch and dinner at the Puerto Palmeras,
a five-star jungle resort.
Day 9
Transfer to Lima where we will enjoy a city tour
at night and overnight at the Hotel.

according to the former Inca inhabitants, and then
on to Chillca where we start our trekking by horseback.
Camp on the sacred mountain.
Day 11
Travel by horseback to the
city of Llaqtapata where we will camp. All meals
are provided.
Day 12
Continue
our horseback trek to Qorihuayrachina where we will
board a morning train to Aguas Calientes at the
base of Machu Picchu montain. Machu Picchu's buildings
and terraces spill over a ridge hundreds of meters
above the rushing Urubamba River; its designers
harmonized architecture and sacred geography, framing
views of nearby mountains in doorways and windows
and carving some stones to echo the mountains' shapes.
Visit the citadel and participate in an evening
ceremony with San Pedro, lunch and dinner provided.
Day 13
A free morning to visit the hot springs, shopping
amidst the numerous local stalls and stores, or
