The savia de Oni transmits the curative power, the keys to the adaptation.
The master plants that join you together with the chacruna, together
with the leaf of oniric visions open windows towards different magic
environments, calling their auxiliary spirits that emerge from their
incantations, from the weaving of visible voices, powerfully indecipherable.
In the ceremonies, the person gains access to the world of his subconscious.
It is about a living world. It is the world that one must penetrate
so that he can recover normal life. At the production of the separation
between the conscious world and the unconscious world the separation
allows us to analyze from one conscience mode all our unconscious
history that was kept in some hidden place. This is always the continuing
source of our wrongs and problems. Because of this the shaman guides
the self- analysis of each person.
The act of bringing to the consciousness what is unconscious allows
us to confront ourselves. This brings us to observe the things that
we are doing, to see the negative and allow us to accept it, then
we will realize that we are capable of doing more than what we had
thought possible. The best way to make our unconscious wishes appear
is to become conscience of them, realizing them. All the negative
forces have an exit and they try to find it. In the ceremonies one
tries the time dimension in such a way that it is convoked in the
ceremony the continuous space and time of four dimensions.
In order to cure yourself physically and spiritually, one should discover
how his past is producing the sickness. The shamans work in a sensation
of great power and this power finds itself in the same land and sees
itself strengthened by sacred plants, plants that were utilized from
ancient times like 3000 B.C.
The Ayahuasca, San Pedro and other holy plants are utilized to explore
this world as well as the parallels that are normally out of our ordinary
perception. At its consumption, it frees one from the normal limits
of space and time of this world moving one freely from one world to
the next.
The sacred plants contain powerful spirits. Through the years it has
been possible to capture the knowledge and power.
These plants are tools for exploring the natural and supernatural
kingdoms which only can be utilized in the presence of an experienced
shaman.
These holy plants were not discovered on accident. They were necessary
for our evolution as a species, it allows us to communicate with our
planet. It provides us with spiritual and mystical introspection about
our own nature.
AYAHUASCA
There exists a traditional knowledge, fairly elaborate, in all that
concerns the mental sphere which is achieved through the employment
of certain psychoactive plants. Here there exists other medicinal
uses, as well as other type of problems generated by the expansion
of urbanism and modernity.
The coca plant is sacred plant and the same time diabolic, depending
on how it is used. Its essence also includes a little of that duality.
There is a great confusion in the Western world in understanding the
meaning of altering a state of consciousness, it is said to be a sin,
dangerous, a drug… it´s a grave mistake, since there are
addictive and non-addictive substance. It depends greatly on the way
they are used and the type of approach we give them. It´s a
matter of daring to experience them in order to get to know them well,
or to stay away in order to take a more theorical approach. There
are a lot of studies about the ayahuasca of that kind, carried out
by anthropologists and many scholars that did not try them or only
tried them a couple of time. But the use of ayahuasca involves processes
that take years to understand, like sexual abstinence, certain energetic
movements, etc., which if one does not experience personally, one
will never know what it is all about
The Jungle contains the origin of the sin as well as the cure.
“The plant will teach you, is
the inmediatly Shaman´ answer. You will not understand until
you try it.”
The contact with ayahuasca turned out to be transcendental, since
it constituted a significant breakthrough that there was, indeed,
a source of knowledge hidden in this plant.
And not only in ayahuasca, but also many other plants with a tremendous
curative potential, which I tried through a process of purges, dreams
and chants. The psychoactive elements in these plants were a path
to an unkown interior world, to some sort of secret wisdom that we
all possess, wich even allows to direct our own lives.
According to traditional shamanic understanding there is no separation
of body, mind and spirit. The idea of spirituality is something that
has been distorted too much in the West. Nowadays the connection between
organic illnesses and the mind is accepted, but without paying any
attention what so ever to the spiritual dimension, which has nothing
to do with the mind. They are treated as “psychological traumas”
That is to say, instinct does not exist for the psychiatrist either,
there only exists the mind.
In the traditional shamanic context, there is one more dimension that
is immaterial and constitutes the essence of a human being: when one
dies, it is the body that stops working, the spirit remains. And they
explore that spiritual world that penetrates not only human beings,
but all of nature, ,rites, places, caves, rivers the fauna…
what they suggest doesn´t necessarily mean to believe in reality
as a part of a divine entity, but just to try it, which I find to
be reasonable. They tell you to try for yourself, “you are going
to see for yourself, you alone will have access to it if you sincerely
want to” It is, then, an experience of revelation”, a
perception of reality different from the regular one that allows to
have access to other levels of consciousness, leading you into other
dimensions of life that are not distinguishable with the naked eye,
simply because they are present in other ways.
What is most convincing from experiencing ayahuasca is the idea of
reconciliation with oneself, accepting what you are, your good or
bad things, a reconciliation whit your past, with all the bitternes
you might feel about your parents, your family, your society…in
a few words, it is to accept yourself, to acknowledge the fact that
you are part of what you are rejecting, and if it´s not perfecto,
it is because you also are implicated in the wrongdoings. Finally,
it is a reconciliation with God, within the concept of what God is
according to each of us, since it offers a transcendental vision of
something that is more important than you, just a every “revelation”
does. This offers certain levels of endless and wonderful relief,
although it is a process in which you never stop making discoveries,
which is at the same time hard because it could involve some suffering.
It is also a reconciliation which a works on both the exterior and
interior natural worlds, a kind of humanist ecology that goes beyond
mere politics. It´s not only about protecting nature, but more
about recreating a sacredness in the relationship of all living beings:
between man and his interior world, between both these and the exterior
world, and between this whole and nature´s cosmic dimension.
The rite is fundamental. This spiritual dimension must also be accepted,
one finds out how to make contact with that world by means of ayahuasca.
Most important is showing respect for the experience in which you
are about to engage, because when the flow of visions becomes too
strong, some cannot avoid reacting cowardly, since there is a moment
when one realizes how daring it is to face sensation of both unknown
and powerful natures.
And that fear is good because it returns you to your condition of
creatura( creation), until you find out there is something that can
detect your presence, though at the same time it protects you, it
nurtures you… The ritual is the way one manifests oneself and
asks for permission, because one cannot just steal the fire of the
Gods as in the Prometheus myth. It is possible that one might have
the right to do so, but it does not mean one can do it just to satisfy
a childish whim or to “plunge” into a purely evasive journey.
Rituals are the gate through which we enter the sacred. For example,
when one uses the coca plant for, let´s say an infusion for
an upset stomach, one does not require a twenty-minute ritual. What
one is expecting from the coca plant at that moment is to cure some
kind of organic aliment. On the other hand, if the coca plant is used
for clairvoyance or to pray to the Gods, as it is done in the Andes,
then a ritual is required, since at that moment you are using the
coca plant at a different level. Your attitude needs to be different,
in this instance you must bow before the coca plant.
SAN
PEDRO
The night arrives and underneath the stars, the patients await the
shaman, who is meditation preparing himself to engage in combat against
the forces and entities that will present themselves in the ceremony
of the mesada or mesa, on which the life and health of the visitors
will enter in sets, during the course of the ceremony, not only will
illnesses of the body and soul be cured, but, furthermore luck will
be changed and will “flourish” and alleviate the emotional
weights of the participants. In some cases, revenge will be exacted
and returned to their source.
Standing in a circle, in the open air and in the middle of the silence
surrounding the siento or mesa, the master will serve them one by
one, from left to right, a dosage of Sampedro that corresponds to
each patient.
He will determine the quantity necessary according to the illness,
size and weight of each patient. Then the chants will mark the moments
through which the ceremony or the voyage proceeds to the other side
of the visible world.
The shaman, with his Icaros, energy and power-giving objects, starts
evaluating, curing and attending to the sick, as well as giving advice
and reading their futures in alter ego.
Diverse movements, spins and dances can also accompany the ceremony,
which will end with the first the rooster´s first crow, before
the first light of day, since Sampedro and the Sun are opposing entities.
The participation in this rite is an absolutely personal experience
that has little to do with rationality. It is an individual experience,
unique and not transferable, nevertheless, in order to achieve this
altered state of consciousness, the group interaction and the shaman´s
leadership are fundamental, since they give this interior and solitary
voyage an intense collective personality. During the trance, deep
bonds are formed between the participants, since this alone frees
the capacity to share in forming a truly vital experience.
The difference
between Shaman and Spiritualists.
In the trance of the medium of the Spiritualists, they comes to them;
they voluntarily give the control of the body and mind, allowing them
to work through them.
Out of body experiences:
shaman flight towards delicate worlds
At the moment when the consciousness separates from the body, the
patient or traveler perceives a black hole like the mouth of a tunnel
and a series of manifestations or luminous points like an energetic
field moving around him. Arriving at this point, the patient usually
changes his angle of vision and is able to see his body from the outside
as if he were looming over himself. He feels weightless and capable
of transporting solid objects. This condition is called “astral
body.”
After passing through the tunnel, the traveler sees a brilliant light.
He baths in the light, experiencing a sensation of euphoria and of
love and all his feelings of hate, rancor, envy disappear, unchaining
profound spiritual transformations.
This spiritual field is produced due to the purge of noxious energies
in the aura, facilitated by the temporary liberation of the physical
body. As a consequence of this, one produces a revision of one’s
own life, which almost always presents itself when encountering other
beings. In general, the familiar spirits usually show the traveler
the effects that his actions provoke in others.
The states of conscience are modified by implementing a graduation
of alternative states of conscience so that the traveler can adopt
to the appropriate level in the necessary moment. One of the most
important characteristics in realizing these mystical experiences
in sacred places such as Machu Picchu lies in that many times the
spiritual and physical aspects of the life of the protagonist are
modified profoundly.
